(Mesa, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s and women’s golf teams finished play at the Redhawk Rumble hosted by Benedictine Mesa at the Las Sendas Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., where the NAIA Golf Championships will be held next May.
The men jumped one spot to ninth place after a final round 308, one shot better than yesterday.
The women were down to two players as Sammie Quilter was unable to finish her round. Tabitha Bitter shot 104 and Grace Sotofinished with a 107.
Max Callerman posted the best score of the day for Park, shooting a three-over 74 on the par 71 course. Callerman had 15 pars in a consistently solid round. He finished the tournament in 32nd place.
Swedish newcomer Melwin Heyne Sundqvist had five birdies in his five-over 76 round as the lefty is showing an ability to score, and as he gets more comfortable with American courses, his scores should go lower. Sundqvist finished as the Bucs highest finisher in 26thplace.
Josh Smith and Noah Blaickner both shot 79 for the final round and Gunnar Hurt posted an 85.
While this tournament is over, the Buccaneers will play another 18 holes tomorrow. Park Gilbert will participate in the Chandler Gilbert Invitational. This tournament is being held at the Las Colinas Golf Course, the Bucs home course. Then next week, the Bucs will finish the fall season at the Arizona Christian Fall Invitational.
