2022-23 Schedule Announced for Water Polo

(Tempe, AZ)  Head Coach Petra Pardi has announced Sun Devil Water Polo’s schedule for the 2022-23 season, highlighted by two home tournaments and two more on the road. The Sun Devils are no stranger to the teams they will face this season, as just one–Biola– was not seen by ASU in Tempe last season.

During the 2021-22 season, ASU had 14 home competitions and four true road games, while seven of them were neutral site games. This season looks similar to last as ASU is set to play 10 games in front of their home crowd, with the remaining on the road or at neutral site locations.

Like last season, ASU opens up the season at Mona Plummer hosting the ASU Cross Conference Challenge on Jan. 13-15 with Michigan, Azusa Pacific, Biola, and California Baptist in town.

The next three competitions will be on the road for the Sun Devils, as travel starts early this season. February opens up with ASU competing at the Stanford Invitational the 4-5, and after two weeks break the team is back in business at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational Feb. 24-26 in Irvine, CA.

The final leg of the first road adventure ends in Berkeley, as ASU is set to face them in the first MSPF conference matchup of the season on March 4.

ASU returns home Mar. 11-12 to host the ASU Invitational Tournament with Harvard, Marist, and Salem in town– all three teams ASU defeated in the Invitational last season. Two weeks later ASU and Stanford face off at Mona Plummer on March 26.

The Sun Devils head to Hoosier Country to face Indiana on April 1 to start a stretch of four conference games to close out the second half of the season. This will be the first time ASU has played IU in Bloomington in the program’s 16 game history with the Hoosiers.

The final three conference games take place over the next three weeks, as the weekend following IU, ASU faces the reigning NCAA Champs, UCLA, at home on April 8. The last road trip takes place at USC on April 15 to take on the NCAA runner-ups.

The regular season concludes at home on April 22 against SJSU before the Sun Devils head off to compete in the MPSF Tournament April 28-30 in San Jose, California.

All home games have free admission, and times/locations for games are to be announced. Follow @SunDevilWP on Twitter for all schedule updates.
