Patton earns second CAL PAC Defender of the Week honors

(Gilbert, AZ)  The California Pacific Conference has announced its Players of the Week for the week ending September 25, 2022.  Park University Gilbert libero Hattie Patton was selected as the Cal Pac Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks. The selection was for her performance over the team’s three-match series in northern California this past week.

The Buccaneers went 3-0, defeating Pacific Union, UC Merced and Simpson. The Buccaneers dominated the matches, only allowing more than 12 points just three times over nine sets.  Patton was a big part of this dominance, averaging almost five digs per set.  Her best performance was in the match against UC Merced where she set the school record for digs in a three-set match with 24. This broke the previous record of 21 digs by MacKenzie Seitz in 2019 against Montana State Northern.

Patton owns the school record for digs in a three-set and four-set (29) match.  Her 29 digs in the four-set match also tie her for the school record for most digs in a match. Patton is the school career leader in digs with 735 so far and her 305 digs this season place her third on the single season digs list. She owns the single season digs record of 371 set last year.

Patton will look to add to season and career digs totals this Thursday and Friday as the Buccaneers host Benedictine Mesa on Thursday, September 29 at 7 p.m. at Bell Bank Park and then travel to Prescott, Ariz., to take on Embry Riddle on Friday, September 30 at 6 p.m.
