Meredith Scott and Riley Bonner score hat tricks as Women’s Soccer dominates at Glendale CC

(Glendale, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (7-1, 4-1 in ACCAC) scored in the double digits on Tuesday in its match at Glendale Community College (0-7, 0-5).

The No. 3 ranked Aztecs defeated the Gauchos 10-0 in an ACCAC road contest. It was Pima’s seventh shutout win in eight games.

Freshman Meredith Scott (Walden Grove HS) and sophomore Riley Bonner (Cienega HS) each produced hat tricks. Scott scored the first three goals of the game in the 7th, 13th and 15th minutes. Bonner put the Aztecs ahead 6-0 with her first goal in the 36th minute and netted two more goals in the second half (50th and 53rd minutes).

Sophomore Caitlyn Maher (Catalina Foothills HS) had four assists for the game with three coming on Bonner’s goals.

Sophomore Delaney Buntin (Cienega HS) added to her team-high goal total as she scored her ninth of the season in the 16th minute with an assist from Scott. Buntin also had three assists: two setting up Scott for her second and third goals. Her third assist came on sophomore Mari Acosta’s (Sahuarita HS) goal in the 21st minute to make it 5-0.

Sophomore Nayeli Vidal (Sahuaro HS) and freshman Juliana Valdez (Tucson Magnet HS) each scored a goal and had an assist for the game.

The Aztecs held the Gauchos to one shot on goal as freshman Adriana Pacheco (Cienega HS) finished with one save.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College in an ACCAC conference matchup. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
