(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College track & field standout athletes Reece Gardner (Marana HS), Eliza Littlewood (Campo Verde HS) and Chalen Lozano (Marana HS) signed their letters of intent to continue their educational opportunities at four-year colleges.
Gardner, a multi-event athlete, signed to Weber State University, an NCAA Division I school in Ogden, Utah. Gardner claimed the NJCAA Indoor National Championship in the Heptathlon; setting a school record with 5112 points. He won the NJCAA Region I title in the Decathlon last season with 6005 points and also earned NJCAA All-American status at last year’s NJCAA Division I National Championships with an eighth place finish in the Decathlon.
Littlewood, a jumper/multi-event athlete, also signed to Weber State University. The Wildcats compete in the Big Sky Conference. Littlewood had a decorated career with the Aztecs. She was a two-time NJCAA Region I champion in the Heptathlon finishing with 4387 points; which put her second all-time in Pima school history. She also took first place in the High Jump at 1.57 meters (5-feet, 1.75-inches). Littlewood finished the NJCAA Region I Championships with 52-team points.
Last season, Littlewood claimed NJCAA All-American status after placing seventh in the Heptathlon with 3419 points. She was named the Region I Athlete of the Meet at the Region Championships last season with 42-team points. She won the Triple Jump with a mark of 10.74 meters (35-feet, 3-inches).
Lozano, a distance runner, signed to compete for Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II school in Durango, CO. The Skyhawks compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Lozano claimed the NJCAA Region I crown in the 10,000-meter race last season 32:53.64. He fell short in repeating as this year’s champion as he took second place but set a new personal-best in the process with a time of 32 minutes, 42.75 seconds.
