(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College softball team (4-6, 4-6 in ACCAC) hosted No. 1 ranked Phoenix College (12-2, 10-2) on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Softball Field.
The Aztecs managed just three hits on the day as the Bears scored 30 runs.
Game 1: (1) Phoenix College Bears 11, Pima CC Aztecs 0 (5 innings)
Phoenix College got their offense going early as they scored five runs in the 1st inning and another five in the 3rd.
Freshman Elise Muñoz (Salpointe Catholic HS) had Pima’s only hit of the game as she drove a single to left field in the 4th inning.
Sophomore Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) took the loss as she pitched three and one-third innings giving up 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Game 2: (1) Phoenix College Bears 19, Pima CC Aztecs 1 (5 innings)
The Bears offense could not be contained as it scored three or more runs in the first four innings to take control.
The Aztecs got on the board when freshman Stephanie Tapia (Cibola HS) hit a lead-off home run to center field in the 4th inning.
Tapia finished 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored while freshman Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) went 1 for 1 with a walk.
Freshman Lia Dominguez (Cienega HS) took the loss as she pitched one and two-third innings giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Aztecs hit the road on Tuesday as they play at Arizona Western College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First game is at noon.
