(Tucson, AZ) The Tucson Sugar Skulls strengthened their roster by re-signing veteran offensive lineman Isame Faciane for the upcoming 2022 season.
OL Isame Faciane (6’5, 300, Florida International University) returns to the Sugar Skulls for his third season in the IFL and second in Tucson. Known by the nickname “Ice,” Faciane was signed last season before the Skulls’ June 5th home opener vs. Iowa, and made his debut in that game on the defensive line, registering the first Tucson sack of 2021. Following that game, Faciane transitioned back to his previous position on the offensive line for the majority of 2021. “Ice” Faciane played a key role in Tucson’s run game, helping them finish tied for fourth in rushing yards (77.1) in the IFL as a team. Faciane played for Sugar Skulls head coach Dixie Wooten on the 2018 IFL champion Iowa Barnstormers.
Faciane has experience at the NFL level as a member of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2016, while also spending time on the practice squads for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins. Prior to playing professionally, Faciane played four seasons at Florida International, compiling 122 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks on the defensive line. He was an Honorable Mention All-Conference USA selection as a senior in 2013. A native of Slidell, Louisiana, Isame attended Salmen High School and was 2009 All-District 4A-9 Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a class 4A All-State selection.
