Sugar Skulls have signed Luke Ancrum Jr. and Akeem Gordon to Their 2022 Roster

(Tucson, AZ)   The Tucson Sugar Skulls have signed two more players to their roster, as defensive lineman Luke Ancrum Jr. and wide receiver Akeem Gordon join the team for the 2022 season.

DL Luke Ancrum Jr. (6’6, 270, University of Florida) joins the Sugar Skulls for his IFL rookie season. Ancrum played four years collegiately with the University of Florida Gators, appearing in 41 games from 2016-2019. Luke registered 37 career tackles, with 4.5 for a loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, and played primarily as a defensive end.

A native of Sebring, Florida, Ancrum attended Sebring High School and logged 32 total tackles, including 23 solo for the Blue Streaks. During his senior season, Ancrum played in the FACA North-South All-Star Game.

WR Akeem Gordon (5’9, 175, East Central University) joins the Sugar Skulls for his rookie season in the IFL. Gordon played collegiately at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma for two seasons, appearing in 18 games. During his career with the Tigers, Gordon recorded 12 receptions for 203 yards at wide receiver. On special teams, Gordon logged over 200 kick return yards, two blocked punts, five tackles and one fumble recovery. While at ECU, Akeem was a an academic honor roll student.

Prior to East Central, Gordon spent one season playing at Fort Scott Community College in Eastern Kansas. While with the Greyhounds, he compiled eight catches for 100 yards, to go with five tackles and 65 kick return yards. A native of Harvey, Illinois, Gordon played cornerback at Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Akeem was an all-conference honorable mention as a high school senior in 2015.
