(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (9-0, 3-0 in ACCAC) gave up an early goal but bounced back and were able to come away with the win on Saturday over Mesa Community College (2-7-1, 1-3-1).
The No. 1 ranked Aztecs defeated the Thunderbirds 2-1 to stay unbeaten on the season.
The Thunderbirds took an early 1-0 advantage with Lewis Upton’s goal in the 6th minute. The Aztecs tied the game at 1-1 a minute later when sophomore Minho Cha scored on a cross-pass from fellow sophomore Francisco Manzo (Salpointe Catholic HS).
Sophomore Sam Lossou (Rincon HS) scored the eventual game-winner with his goal in the 14th minute with an assist from freshman Jacob Garcia (Walden Grove HS).
The Aztecs outshot the Thunderbirds 12-3 on on-goal attempts. Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View HS) finished with two saves.
The Aztecs have a busy upcoming week as they play three games. Pima will play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
