Aztecs men’s cross country takes fifth at Vaquero “CAMPY” Invitational

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s cross country team competed at the Vaquero “CAMPY” Invitational on Saturday in Coolidge.

The Aztecs finished in fifth place with a score of 101 points. Central Arizona College took first place with 20 points and Mesa Community College took second with 87 points. The ACCAC teams raced with the College of Southern Nevada (87 points), Western New Mexico University (89) and Park University (144).

Freshman Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as he took 11th place in the 8K (4.97 miles) race with a time of 27 minutes, 38.6 seconds. Freshman Avery Dylla (Ironwood Ridge HS) placed 17th with a time of 28:11.8.

Freshman Brendan Torres (Empire HS) was 18th at 28:37.0 while freshman Caleb Rayman (Cienega HS) finished 20th with a time of 28:56.1. Sophomore Zach Zobak went 35th at 31:11.0.

The Aztecs will compete in the ACU Invitational on Friday, Oct. 22 in Glendale. The women’s race will be at 7:15 a.m.
