Jacob Garcia scores and has an assist as Aztecs men’s soccer defeats Mesa CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (3-0) remained undefeated after Saturday’s victory at Mesa Community College (0-3).

The No. 3 ranked Aztecs scored two goals in each half as they beat the Thunderbirds 4-1.

The Aztecs produced four different goal scorers. Freshman Jacob Garcia (Walden Grove HS) had his hand in a couple of goals. He provided the cross-pass assist to sophomore Brian Vu (Rincon HS) for his goal in the 51st minute to make it 3-0. Garcia then scored his goal in the 53rd minute with an assist from sophmomore Rramon Isaku to make it 4-0.

Sophomore Ulysses Torres (Sunnyside HS) put the Aztecs on the board with header goal in the 21st minute with an assist from freshman Jesus Virgen (Sunnyside HS). Sophomore Manuel Quiroz (Sunnyside HS) put Pima up 2-0 in the 37th minute with a penalty kick goal.

The Aztecs finished the game with 10 shots on goal. Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View HS) had five saves. Freshman Aurelio Bernal (Cholla HS) played the final eight minutes at the net with no saves.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field part of the Chapman Automotive Sports Complex on Tuesday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
