Baseball’s Alex Kelch Signs to University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College baseball player Alex Kelch (Tucson HS) signed his letter of intent and will continue his educational and collegiate opportunities at the NCAA Division I level starting in the fall of 2021.

Kelch, an infielder, signed to play at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, TX. The Vaqueros play out of the Western Athletic Conference.

“The competitive nature at UTRGV with the coaches and the players really enticed my decision,” Kelch said. “My experience at Pima has been nothing short of remarkable and I am so thankful for (Coach) Jacome and all the coaches and the development they have provided me with. I am excited for the future but will always be proud to be an Aztec.”

Kelch is returning to play for the Aztecs for the 2021 season.

He played in all 25 games during the 2020 season where he batted .286 with 21 runs scored, nine RBIs and two stolen bases. He was a 2020 NJCAA All-Academic Second Team student-athlete and the male recipient of the 2020 Lawrence R. Toledo Leadership Award.
