Valencia nets two second half goals as Aztecs women’s soccer baffles Glendale CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (3-3) got back on track in its first road contest of the season on Saturday.

The Aztecs overwhelmed Glendale Community College 5-1 as Pima finished the game with 23 shots on goal.

Freshman Seti Valencia (Sunnyside HS) helped secure the victory with two goals in the second half. She scored in the 54th and 71st minutes.

The Aztecs got things going early in the first half. Freshman Savannah Samorano (Tucson HS) put Pima on the scoreboard in the 3rd minute. Fellow freshmen Valentina Franco (Tucson HS) and Emma Franzone (Sahuarita HS) added to the lead with goals in the 15thand 34th minutes respectively.

Freshmen Layla Argote (Tucson HS) and Nikki Suckell (Ironwood Ridge HS) each had an assist.

The Pima defense gave up just two shots on goal to the Gauchos (0-6). Sophomore Jorie Paul (Cienega HS) had one save. Freshman Chloe Kunnemann (Empire HS) was in the net for the second half and didn’t have a save.

The Aztecs will hit the road on Thursday to begin ACCAC conference play. They’ll play at Paradise Valley Community College. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
