Reyna Carranco, Jessie Harper, Malia Martinez, Taylor McQuillin, Dejah Mulipola and Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza were named to the first team while Rylee Pierce was named to the third team. This marks the first time in program history that Arizona’s entire infield has been named all-region.
The seven Wildcats are now eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 29.
Reyna Carranco (Jr.; 2B; Oxnard, Calif.) is receiving her second consecutive all-region selecion after she was was a second-team honoree in 2018. Carranco, who was named first-team all-Pac-12 and all-defense last week, won the Pac-12 batting title with a .433 average this season.
Jessie Harper (Jr.; SS; Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) is receiving her third straight first-team NFCA all-west region selection; she was a first-team All-American in 2017 as well. Harper, who was named first-team all-Pac-12 and Pac-12 all-defense last week, lead the Pac-12 and is tied for the NCAA lead with 25 home runs this season.
Malia Martinez (Jr.; 3B; Poway, Calif.) is receiving her first-ever all-region honor. Martinez, who was a second-team all-Pac-12 selection last week, has a career-high 13 home runs and 53 RBI while hitting a career-best .323 for the season.
Taylor McQuillin (Sr.; LHP; Mission Viejo, Calif.) is receiving her third straight all-region nod, including two straight first-team selections. McQuillin, who was recently named first-team all-Pac-12, leads the Pac-12 and is eighth nationally with eight shutouts.
Dejah Mulipola (Jr.; C; Garden Grove, Calif.) is a first-team all-region performer for the second straight season. Mulipola was named first-team all-Pac-12 and Pac-12 all-defense last week. Mulipola is tied for seventh in the NCAA with a career-most 21 home runs.
Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza (RS Jr.; OF; Mission Viejo, Calif.) is a first-team all-region performer for the third straight year. Palomino, who was also named first-team all-Pac-12 and Pac-12 all-defense, is tied for the conference lead with 18 doubles, seventh most in a season in UA history.
Rylee Pierce (Sr.; 1B; Visalia, Calif.) is an all-region performer for the first time in her career. She has eight home runs and 21 RBI this season, her first season at Arizona after transferring from Missouri. Six of her eight homers came in Pac-12 play.
