Aztecs women’s golf wins first regular season tournament since 2006 at hosted Pima invitational

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team hosted the Pima Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the The Views Golf Course in Oro Valley, AZ.

The Aztecs won their first regular season tournament since 2006 as they took the top spotin the team standings with a two-day score of 785 (397-388). They finished 6-strokes ahead of Chandler-Gilbert Community College, who finished with 791 (409-382).

Mesa Community College had won every regular season tournament from 2007-2018. The Coyotes had taken first place in all four previous tournaments this season.

Sophomore Elizabeth Satterfield (Ironwood Ridge HS) took fourth place in the individual standings as she had an 11-stroke improvement in her second round of play. She shot a 183 (97-86).

Freshman Katelyn Hutchison (Cienega HS) finished in ninth place with a two-day score of 196 (96-100) while sophomore Julienne Gonzalez (Ironwood Ridge HS) rounded out the top 10 with a score of 199 (97-102).

Sophomore Clara Solano (Tucson HS) finished 13th with a 209 (106-103).

The Aztecs will play in the Chandler-Gilbert Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 13-14 at the Los Colinas Golf Club in Queen Creek, AZ. Teams will begin to tee off at 12:30 p.m.
