(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s tennis team (1-2) won its first match of the season on Tuesday at the West Campus Tennis Courts.
The Aztecs defeated Glendale Community College 7-2. Pima was forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches.
Freshman Valeria Miranda (Sunnyside HS) earned her win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Ashley Fitzsimmons (Walden Grove HS) won her match at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-2. The duo picked up a victory in their No. 1 doubles match 8-3.
Freshman Olivia Manheimer (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned a shut out win in her match at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Melina Oropeza (Nogales HS) won her match at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2. Manheimer and Oropeza won 8-2 in their No. 2 doubles match.
Freshman Jazmin Nunez (Cholla HS) won 6-1, 6-0 in her No. 4 singles match.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Thursday when they play at Paradise Valley Community College. The match begins at 1:30 p.m.
