(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s tennis team (1-1) evened up its record onTuesday after earning an ACCAC conference win at Glendale Community College.
The Aztecs earned some close wins as they downed the Gauchos 5-4.
Freshman Darin Trejo (St. David HS) won a huge three-set match at No. 5 singles as he beat Landon Strickland 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
The freshman duo of Oscar Aguilera and Edgar Franco (Cibola HS) defeated James and Christian Mineo 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Aguilera defeated James Mineo in their No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 while Franco downed David Rodriguez 6-3, 6-2 in their No. 4 singles match.
Sophomore Chris McDaniels (Tanque Verde HS) avoided a third set as he beat Francisco Angulo 6-2, 6-4.
McDaniels and No. 1 doubles partner Beau Boyer (Cibola HS) fell in their match to Angulo and Rodriguez 8-4. Boyer lost his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-2 to Christian Mineo.
The Aztecs were forced to forfeit their No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Tennis Courts on Thursday when they host Paradise Valley Community College. The match begins at 1:30 p.m.
