SUGAR SKULLS SIGN THREE; ROSTER UP TO 28

 

TUCSON, ARIZONA – The Tucson Sugar Skulls added nearly 900 pounds to its offensive line with the signing of three players. The preseason roster now has 28 players.

The Sugar Skulls, preparing for their first season as an expansion franchise of the Indoor Football League, will start training camp on Feb. 8 at the Kino Sports Complex. The team expects to have at least 36 players signed entering camp. The roster will number 25 players during the season with an active gameday roster of 21.

The three signees are:

Chancellor House, 6’5”, 280 pounds, offensive lineman, Iowa Western Community College. Two-year starter on the offensive line at Iowa Western and was named a first-team NJCAA All American in his final season. Iowa Western finished ranked No. 3 in the nation in House’s final season.

Mike Montero, 6’2”, 300 pounds, offensive lineman, Florida International University. Started 32 games at center for FIU and was an all-conference honorable mention selection his senior year. Was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List and the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List entering the 2016 season. Was named game captain nine times.

Trenton Saunders, 6’4”, 310 pounds, offensive lineman, Florida International University. Started 23 games on the offensive line at FIU, including all 12 games his senior season in 2016 where he helped produce 4,503 yards of total offense, the fourth-highest total in school history. Was a teammate of Sugar Skulls signee Mike Montero.

The Tucson Sugar Skulls are in their first year of operation as an expansion franchise of the Indoor Football League. The team will begin its inaugural season in March with home games at the Tucson Arena.
