(TUCSON, AZ)  Redshirt sophomore guard Aari McDonald won her third Pac-12 Player of the Week honor on Monday after averaging 33 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists per game on 47% shooting on the road against Colorado and Utah. She is the first player in the Pac-12 to win three Player of the Week honors this season.

McDonald led Arizona to a win over Colorado on Friday night with 32 points and a career-high eight steals, which is the second-most any Wildcat has had in one game. She followed that up with 34 points and 11 rebounds against Utah, making her the first player in school history with back-to-back 30-point games.

The Fresno native is the nation’s second-leading scorer at 24.8 points per game and has now scored at least 15 points in the first 14 games of the season, becoming the only Wildcat to do so in school history. She has also scored at least 30 points in four games this season.

McDonald is the first Wildcat since Shawntinice Polk (2003-04) to win Pac-12 Player of the Week three times in one season and joins Polk and head coach Adia Barnes (1997-98) as the only three Wildcats to win the award three times in one season.

Next up for McDonald and the Wildcats is California on Friday, Jan. 11 in McKale.
