Freshman Emily Knous struck twice with two goals against Baylor today to lead the Wildcats in a 3-1 win over the Bears.

Baylor was an Elite Eight Team in last year’s NCAA Soccer Championships.

With the win over Boise St. the Cats continued to roll. This was a game to gauge just how good this year’s Arizona team really is.

Baylor played a very physical game with stoppages due to injuries to both sides.

In the beginning of the match, most of the action was in front of the Wildcat’s goal. The Bears forced the action but came up empty as their shots on goal were off the mark.

Knous scores her first goal in the thirty first minute of the contest off of passes from fellow freshman Brooke Wilson and sophomore Amanda Porter.

Seventeen minutes later the Bears got on the board to tie it up off a nice header by Julie James over the outstretched hands of Wildcat goalie Lainey Burdett.

The score wasn’t tied for long as seven minutes later, Knous smoked a shot into the corner of the net to break the tie and give Zona a 2-1 lead.

The insurance goal came off of a corner kick by Knous and a rebound shot by Hallie Pearson went through the Bears goal keepers hands to seal the win 3-1.

Arizona’s goalie Burnett was very active throughout the game and came away with six big saves.

The Cats will be at home to face the Titans of Cal-State Fullerton this Friday at 7 pm.
