Amato gets the record as the Cats cruise 6-0

Going into tonight’s game, the Lady Soccer Cats has three things on their minds, play well, play consistentget and let’s get this win for Head Coach Tony Amato to set the all-time win record at Arizona.

Back and forth both teams went, without any scoring, although the Cats had a 10-1 shot on goal advantage.

At the 28:46 mark, the Cats broke through as Jada Talley dribbled the ball in unassisted and connected from the top of the 18. Arizona ahead 1-0.

Just under eight minutes later, Talley scores her second consecutive goal  by chipping the ball over the Goalie’s out outstretched hands. Cats up 2-0.

Keepimg the ball in their end of the field, the Cats kept the pressure on  Huskies when just over ninety seconds later, Sabrina Enciso netted her first career goal off a volley from Amanda Porter. Zona extends its lead to 3-0 going into the half.

Coming out for the second half, the Cats took just over twenty minutes to get back in the scoring column when Gabe Jillings rebounded a shot by Jill Aguilera off the right post and put it back into the net for her first career goal. Wildcats lead 4-0.

With the game in hand, freshman Brooke Wilson also got her first goal as a Wildcat as she chest trapped the ball to score at the 72:08 mark. Arizona now up 5-0.

With the match winding down in the 87th minute and the outcome never in doubt, freshman  Michaela Rentner ripped her kick into the side net to complete the dominant performance and the shut out 6-0.

Arizona outshot Houston Baptist 30-3 with shots on goal. The Cats only needed two saves by goalkeeper Lainey Burdett, while the Huskie’s Alanis Guevara saved eight shots but did allow the six goals.

Up next for the Cats is a trip up to Tempe for the Sun Devil Invitational where they will face the Southeast Missouri State RedHawks on August 31st.
