Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s golf team closed out the regular season on Tuesday at the Mesa Invitational held at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa.
The Aztecs earned their second straight third place finish after they posted a two-day total of 767(390-377). Mesa Community College was first with 689 (342-347) and Chandler-Gilbert Community College took second with 703 (356-347).
Sophomore Araceli Esquivel (Salpointe Catholic HS) earned her sixth top 5 finish after she took fourth place. She shot a 7-over par 79 in the final round to finish with a 164 (85-79). She was six strokes off the leader.
Esquivel earned first team All-Conference and first team All-Region. She averaged an 82.2 per round this season.
Freshman Elizabeth Satterfield (Ironwood Ridge HS) finished 14th in the individual standings with a two-day score of 190 (96-94).
Freshman Tanna Cole (Flowing Wells HS) shot a 207 (103-104) and took 15th. Freshman Julianne Gonzalez (Ironwood Ridge HS) was 17th with a 209 (109-100).
Esquivel along with Satterfield and Gonzalez qualified to compete as individuals at the NJCAA National Tournament. It will be held at the Longbow Golf Club on May 14-17 in Mesa.
