Cueva-Schraidt takes the lead after second round of the Region I Championship

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s golf team completed the first two rounds of play at the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championship on Thursday and Friday at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort.

The Aztecs sit in second place with a two-day total of 612 (311-301). They have some ground to make up if they want to capture the program’s fourth straight region title. Eastern Arizona is in first with a score of 598 (299-299) while Scottsdale Community College is in third place at 624 (311-313).

Freshman Diego Cueva-Schraidt (Sabino HS) is atop the leaderboard after Friday’s round as he shot a 4-over par 74. He shot a 3-over par 73 on Thursday and has a two-day score of 147. He leads by two-strokes.

Sophomore Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) is in fifth place after he improved in the second round shooting a 74. He has a two-day total of 150 (76-74).

Sophomore Bobby Padilla (Catalina Foothills HS) climbed into the top 10 as he had a 13-stroke improvement after the second round. He shot a 2-over par 72 on Friday and has a score of 157 (85-72).

Sophomore Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) is in 11th place with a score of 158 (77-81).

The Aztecs continue play in the Region I, Division I Championship on Saturday as teams begin to tee of around noon.
