Aztecs men’s basketball scores 81 points in the first half to bulldoze Central Arizona

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (15-2, 7-2 in ACCAC) bounced back in a big way on Saturday as they ran roughshod over Division I Central Arizona College (5-11, 1-8).
The No. 3 ranked Aztecs scored 81 points in the first half and beat the Vaqueros 128-82. The Aztecs had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday at Phoenix College.
The Aztecs never trailed in the game as they took a 24-9 lead which turned into a 21-3 run in the next four minutes. The Aztecs led 81-46 at halftime. Four Aztecs were already in double figures in scoring led by freshman Jeremiah Bailey, who had 19 at the end of the half.
Bailey finished with 26 points and 14 rebounds for the game. He went 9 for 12 from the field and 7 for 8 from the free throw line.
Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half and also had nine assists. He went 8 for 11 from the field. Sophomore Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) was a perfect 7 for 7 from the field including 3 for 3 from three-point range as he finished with 17 points.

Sophomore Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) had 14 points and five assists while fellow sophomore Alize Travis contributed with 11 points and seven assists. Freshman Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) posted 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Aztecs finished 23 for 27 from the free throw line.
The Aztecs will play another tough road game on Wednesday at Mesa Community College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
