Lancers run all over Catalina Foothills

In their previous meeting, Salpointe Catholic delivered Catalina Foothills a punishing 34 – 7 defeat. This time around? Just more of the same. Salpointe Catholic had all the answers against Catalina Foothills last week, winning 36 – 7. Salpointe Catholic won its match by a margin much greater than the state rankings suggested.

Catalina Foothills’s defense took a beating in the first half, giving up 21 points. That put it down 21 – 0. It allowed 15 points to fall even further behind in the second half.

Salpointe Catholic found its leader in an underclassman: Bijan Robinson ran for 156 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team’s best players.

The win got Salpointe Catholic up to 8-1. Catalina Foothills’s record fell to 6-3 after the loss.

The teams are out to raise these records in their next games. Salpointe Catholic will battle it out against Canyon del Oro on Friday at 7:00 PM. Salpointe Catholic has whitewashed its last three opponents, so Canyon del Oro might have its hands full. Meanwhile, Catalina Foothills will face off against Walden Grove Friday at 7:00 PM.
