(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (23-7, 16-6 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Tuesday with a win over Glendale Community College (7-23, 0-22) at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
The No. 17 ranked Aztecs defeated the Gauchos 67-42 earning their seventh straight victory. It was Pima’s eighth win in the last nine games.
The Aztecs led the entire game as they used an 11-4 run to start off the second quarter to take a double digit lead at 27-13.
The Aztecs held the Gauchos to single digit points in the first three quarters and led by as much as 27 points late in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Haile Gleason scored a game-high 19 points as she went 6 for 10 from the floor and 5 for 8 from behind the arc.
Sophomore Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) finished with 15 points on 6 for 9 shooting to go along with eight rebounds.
Freshman Tayla Nez (Monument Valley HS) had nine points off the bench while fellow freshman Sierra Mich’l contributed with eight points.
The Aztecs recognized sophomores Gleason, Lawson, Alyssa Perez (Marana HS), Marlena Arroyo-Plata (Campo Verde HS) and Team Manager Montrell Gantt after the game.
The Aztecs will be the No. 2 seed in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament. They will host No. 3 seed South Mountain Community College on Tuesday Mar. 3 at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
