(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (1-1) opened play at the Eastern Arizona Classic on Thursday in Thatcher.
The No. 3 ranked Aztecs (Division II) faced a tough test as they fell to Odessa College (Division I) 76-47.
The Aztecs trailed 15-14 after the first quarter but trailed 41-25 at halftime after being outscored 26-11 in the second quarter.
The Aztecs had three players score in double figures. Freshman Sierra Mich’l led with a team-high of 11 points and six rebounds.
Freshman Fama Thiam (Highland HS) finished with 10 points and five rebounds while sophomore Marlena Arroyo-Plata (Campo Verde HS) added 10 points and four rebounds.
The Aztecs get right back on the court on Friday when they play Southwestern College. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
