(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (11-3-1, 7-2 in ACCAC) could not hold on to its lead on Saturday at Yavapai College (14-3, 7-2).
The No. 8 ranked Aztecs fell to No. 15 Yavapai College 2-1 in their final regular season road game.
The Aztecs took a 1-0 lead when sophomore Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) scored in the 11thminute with an assist from freshman Estevan Manzo (Salpointe Catholic HS).
The Roughriders tied the game at 1-1 in the 76th minute when Jonathan Mayen scored. Yavapai took the lead two minutes later when Mayen scored again in the 78th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Nils Roth finished the game with six saves.
The Aztecs are now tied for first place with the Roughriders in the ACCAC conference standings.
The Aztecs close out the regular season on Wednesday against Arizona Western College at Kino North Stadium for “Family Night.” Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
