(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (9-3, 6-0 in ACCAC) continue to roll through ACCAC conference play as the Aztecs notched its seventh straight victory on Thursday.
The No. 19 ranked Aztecs defeated Mesa Community College 2-1. Sophomore Alexis Tapia (Sahuaro HS) kicked a shot that bounced off the post but it was recovered by freshman Emma Franzone (Sahuarita HS), who scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.
The Aztecs got on the board in the 37th minute when freshman Litycia Espinoza (Sahuarita HS) scored a goal in the box. The Thunderbirds (8-5-1, 4-3) tied the game at 1-1 with 1:45 left in the half when Caitlyn Waller scored on a free kick.
The Aztecs finished the game with nine shots on goal as sophomore goalkeeper Jorie Paul (Cienega HS) had four saves.
The Aztecs will hit the road on Saturday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
