(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College volleyball team (5-10, 2-6 in ACCAC) fell in straight sets to No. 13 Scottsdale Community College (11-4, 7-0) 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
Freshman Savanna White (Payson HS) had a kill to cut Pima’s deficit to 18-16 but the Artichokes rallied off three straight points to make it 21-16. They cut it to three points at 23-20 but surrendered the final two points in the set.
The Aztecs trailed for much of the second set. They cut the deficit to 21-16 but gave up the final four points in the end.
The Aztecs fell behind 11-4 in the third set but rallied off five straight points to make it 11-9. They could not get over the hump to take the lead.
White led the Aztecs with seven kills and three blocks. Sophomore Emily Robinson (Cieega HS) finished with six kills and six assists. Sophomore Kendall Deeter (Mountain View HS) had five kills and two aces while fellow sophomore Kaleigh Hockett (Desert Mountain HS) posted 15 assists and two aces.
The Aztecs will head back out on the road on Friday to play at Phoenix College. First serve will be at 7:00 p.m.
