Aztecs baseball standouts Porchas and Padilla commit to Bethune-Cookman University

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College baseball players Enrique Porchas (Kofa HS) and Rafael Padilla (Nogales HS) will continue to be teammates for a couple more years as the duo committed to play at the NCAA Division I level.

Porchas, an infielder and Padilla, an outfielder, will continue their education and collegiate playing careers at Bethune-Cookman University out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in Daytona Beach, FL.

Porchas was named second team All-ACCAC twice in his career at Pima. This season, he batted .335 with 53 hits, 37 runs, 16 extra base hits, eight doubles, four triples, four home runs, 23 RBIs, 27 walks and six stolen bases. He produced a fielding percentage of .981 and played in 52 games.

Padilla batted .344 this season with 54 hits, 31 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 39 RBIs and 30 walks. He had 14 extra base hits and produced a fielding percentage of .912 in 54 games played.

Porchas and Padilla were part of major turnaround for the baseball program. In their freshman season, the Aztecs went 21-31 overall and 11-29 in ACCAC conference play. The Aztecs finished 36-19 overall and 22-16 in ACCAC play this season. It was the most wins in program history since 1993.
