Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (2-1, 1-0 in ACCAC) opened ACCAC conference play on Tuesday as they hosted Glendale Community College.
The No. 6 ranked Aztecs broke away in the second quarter and poured it on in the third as they beat the Gauchos 84-59.
Down 25-19 in the second quarter, the Aztecs finished the half on a 17-2 run to take a 36-27 at halftime. The Gauchos opened the third quarter with a three-pointer but the Aztecs held them to six points for the rest of the quarter. The Aztecs outscored Glendale 27-9 and took a 63-36 advantage heading into the fourth.
Freshman Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) led the Aztecs with 19 points. Sophomore Alliyah Bryant (Mesquite HS) hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points off the bench. Freshman Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) finished with 13 points while sophomore Christine Ortega (Flowing Wells HS) dropped nine of her 11 points in the second half.
The Aztecs will play at Tohono O’Odham Community College next Tuesday in Sells. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
