Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (13-4-1) closed out home regular season play on Thursday at Kino North Stadium with a dominating win.
The Aztecs defeated Glendale Community College 8-0 earning their fifth straight win. The Aztecs outscored the Gauchos (1-16) 22-1 in the two meetings this season. The Aztecs finished their home schedule with a 7-3 record.
Sophomore Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) scored three goals in the first 12 minutes and tacked on another goal to make it 5-0 in the 23rd minute. Hernandez has scored 21 goals on the season.
Sophomores Taylor Inocencio (St. Augustine Catholic HS), Jahmonique Smith (Cienega HS), Daelyn Mayer (Walden Grove HS) and freshman Perla Blanco (Sunnyside HS) scored the other goals for the Aztecs. Sophomore Emily Gallagher (Sahuaro HS) had two assists.
The Aztecs outshot the Gauchos 20-3 for the game. Sophomore Tara Kase (Buena HS) finished with one save while freshman Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) had two saves in the second half.
The Aztecs will play their final two regular season games on the road. They’ll head to Mesa Community Collegeon Tuesday where kick-off will be at 4:30 p.m.
