Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (12-1-3) chalked up another victory on Saturday against GateWay Community College.
The Aztecs scored four unanswered goals to beat the Geckos 5-1 at Kino North Stadium. The Aztecs swept the regular season meetings with GateWay (3-12) and scored 11 goals against them in the two games played.
Freshman Abraham Espinoza (Saguaro HS) scored two goals and had one assist for the game. He scored Pima’s first goal in the 3rdminute and put the Aztecs ahead 4-1 with another goal in the 71st minute. He assisted in freshman Giovanni Ahumada’s (Tucson HS) goal in the 76th minute.
The Geckos tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 8th minute but the Aztecs responded towards the end of the half when sophomore Tatsuma Yuki scored in the 40th minute with an assist from fellow sophomore Julian Gaona (Tucson HS). Freshman Ricky Flores (Desert View HS) made it 3-1 with his goal in the 54thminute.
The Aztecs outshot the Geckos 19-4 and freshman David Silva finished with three saves.
The Aztecs have two home games left in the regular season. They will host Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
