Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (11-4-1) survived a scare from GateWay Community College on Saturday at Kino North Stadium.
The Aztecs rallied to beat the Geckos (5-10) 2-1 in overtime sweeping the regular season head-to-head meetings.
The Aztecs gave up a goal in the 12th minute and trailed until freshman Kylee Martin (Sahuaro HS) hit a shot from outside the box to tie the game in the 77th minute.
The Aztecs didn’t waste time in overtime as they pressured the Geckos until sophomore Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) scored the golden goal in the 93rd minute off a rebounded shot.
Freshman Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) finished the game with one save.
The Aztecs have two regular season home games remaining. They’ll return to Kino North Stadium on Tuesday against Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 4:30 p.m.
