(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College men’s basketball sophomores Abram Carrasco (ChollaHS), Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Kennedy Koehler received recognition from the ACCAC conference for their play this season.
Carrasco, a guard, finished second in the voting for ACCAC Player of the Year as he earned first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II.
Carrasco is second on the Pima men’s basketball all-time career scoring list with 1,229 points. He needs 12 points to pass Greg Cook, who finished with 1,240 career points in 1980.
Prior to Tuesday’s game at Glendale, Carrasco was averaging 21.1 points to lead the ACCAC. He was also averaging 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He played and started in all 30 games.
Koehler, a forward, was selected second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II.
He finished the regular season with 16 double-doubles as he led the ACCAC conference with 10.4 rebounds per game. Koehler was second on the team averaging 18.3 points. He played in 29 games; making 27 starts.
Wilson, a forward, was also selected second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II.
He had 14 double-doubles on the season and averaged double digits in points and rebounds with 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with 3.2 assists. Wilson led the ACCAC conference in three-point percentage at 49.1 percent. He played and started in all 30 games.
The Aztecs will be the No. 1 seed at the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament beginning on Wednesday. They will host No. 4 Glendale Community College in the semifinals at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
