(TUCSON, AZ) The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia announced the 2019 Dawn Staley Award Midseason Watch List, which recognizes the top guard in the country.
Aari McDonald, who was also named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List earlier today, was announced as one of the 15 student-athletes named to the list and joins Sabrina Ionescu from Oregon as the only two on the list from Pac-12 schools.
On the season, McDonald is second in the nation in scoring at 25.3 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She has six 30-point games this season, including 39 against Loyola Marymount which tied Arizona’s single-game scoring record, and has scored at least 15 points in all 23 games.
McDonald became the fastest player in school history to score 500 points in one season (20 games) and is third on the Arizona single-game scoring list, trailing just Adia Barnes’ junior and senior seasons.
Four finalists will be announced in Mid-March and the winner will be announced the weekend of the Final Four.
