(Chandler, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (9-8, 5-4 in ACCAC) earned another big win in ACCAC Division II conference play on Saturday at Chandler-Gilbert Community College (10-7, 4-5).
The Aztecs downed the No. 14 ranked Coyotes 71-68 to take over first place in the Division II standings. It was the Aztecs fourth straight win over an ACCAC Division II team; third straight win overall.
The Aztecs trailed 35-34 at halftime but took a 59-53 lead after the third quarter. The Aztecs outscored the Coyotes 25-18 in the quarter.
Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) scored a team-high 18 points with seven assists. Fellow sophomore RyLeigh Long netted 17 points.
Sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) and freshman Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) each had double-doubles in points and rebounds. Bribiescas finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Lawson contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Aztecs will hit the road again on Wednesday when they play at Phoenix College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
