Tucson Sugar Skulls Fall Short to San Diego Force in Hard-Fought Away Game

(Oceanside, CA)  The Tucson Sugar Skulls battled hard on the road but ultimately fell to the San Diego Strike Force, 42-25, in a high-intensity Indoor Football League matchup. Despite a strong defensive effort, offensive inconsistencies proved costly as the game progressed.

Fast Start & Defensive Response

Both teams opened the game with urgency and aggression, highlighted by early turnovers on both sides. San Diego capitalized first, converting Tucson’s miscue into a touchdown in the opening quarter.

Tucson quickly responded in the second quarter, as defensive back Zachariah Twadorsky made a big play, finding the end zone to tie the game at 7-7 and shift momentum back toward the Sugar Skulls.

Defensive Stand in the First Half

Tucson’s defense set the tone throughout the remainder of the half. Led by Kendricks Gladney, the unit consistently disrupted San Diego’s offensive rhythm, limiting scoring opportunities despite the Strike Force controlling possession for much of the half.

The Sugar Skulls’ ability to hold a high-powered offense to just 14 points showcased their defensive strength, sending both teams into halftime tied at 14-14.

Momentum Shift After Halftime

The second half brought increased intensity and physicality from both sides. However, penalties and lapses in execution began to impact Tucson’s rhythm.

San Diego took advantage of these moments, gradually building momentum and taking a 21-17 lead by the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter Battle

In the final quarter, both teams fought to overcome earlier mistakes and close out the game strong. While Tucson’s defense continued to compete, offensive struggles made it difficult to keep pace.

San Diego capitalized late, extending their lead and securing the 42-25 victory. Emotions ran high in the closing minutes as the physical nature of the game carried through to the final whistle.
