(San Luis Obispo, CA) No. 13 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball pulled off a 3-2 win over No. 7 Loyola Marymount to split the day after a loss to No. 2 UCLA to end the weekend at the COE Challenge on Saturday.
Arizona State (17-12) earned its ninth ranked win of the year and second top-10 win with the victory over Loyola Marymount. Under head coach Kristen Glattfelder, this is ASU’s fifth top-10 win and 27th ranked win overall.
Redshirt senior Ava Kirunchyk improved her team-best win total to 21. She is tied for the 11th-most wins in a single season in team history. She and fellow redshirt senior Samaya Morinreunited in the second dual of the day after three duals apart, winning their match and improving to 27-11 together between their two seasons playing together. This season, they are 19-6, all on the top court.
Senior McKenna Flaherty and junior Kristin Gilmour were clutch in the win over LMU, getting the clinch in three sets (16-21, 21-16, 15-9). They improved to 17-9, including a 16-5 mark on court four.

The Bruins (24-4) swept the top four courts en route to the 5-0 dual win. The lone Sun Devil duo to win a set was the sophomore pair of Zoë Taylor and Layla Williams, who won their first set on court five. However, they ended up losing the match in three.

ASU started the dual strong against Loyola Marymount (22-10), winning four of the five first sets. The ones and threes put the Sand Devils on the board first, both sweeping their matches. The remaining three courts went to a third set, with LMU winning the second sets on courts two and five and ASU forcing a third on court four. The No. 4 pair of Flaherty and Gilmour clinched the win for the Sun Devils, winning in three. The Lions took the matches on two and five.
