(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s soccer team received accolades from the United Soccer Coaches on Friday as it released its 2018 Junior College Men’s Division I All-American teams.
Sophomore forward Hugo Kametani and freshman goalkeeper Nils Roth were named to the first team while freshman midfielder Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) was selected to the second team.
Kametani, was selected first team NJCAA Division I All-American on Thursday. He was named the NJCAA Division I Player of the National Tournament, ACCAC/Region I Player of the Year and first team All-ACCAC. He was second in the nation with 30 goals which broke a single season record for Pima. Kametani played and started in all 28 games this season. It is undetermined where he will transfer to continue his collegiate career.
Roth played and started in 24 games at the net for the Aztecs. He finished the season with 74 saves and a saves percentage of .881. He gave up just 10 goals on the season in 1994:55 minutes of play.
Gordillo was second in the nation with 19 assists as he played in 25 games making 22 starts. He had the game-winning assist to Kametani in the national championship game. He also scored four goals.
Kametani, Roth, Gordillo and sophomore defender Kaskile Zawadi (Cholla HS) were selected first team 2018 United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Men’s All-West Region.
