Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (2-1-1, 2-1-1 in ACCAC) faced another battle with Yavapai College (4-0-1, 3-0-1) on Friday at the Kino North Grandstand.
The No. 13 ranked Aztecs and No. 9 Yavapai College finished in a 1-1 tie as each team scored in the first half but both defenses were on full display the remainder of the contest.
Freshman Hugo Kametani put the Aztecs on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute. The Roughriders responded with a goal in the 16th minute.
The Aztecs had eight shots on goal and the Roughriders finished with four. Freshman goalkeeper David Silva had four saves.
The Aztecs had dropped both meetings last season to the Roughriders. In 2015 the teams tied at Kino North Stadium but the Aztecs fell in Prescott.
The Aztecs will be back at Kino Sports Complex on Tuesday when they host Scottsdale Community College at 7:00 p.m.
Pima goal: Kametani 13th minute.
