(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College women’s basketball standout Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) came away with her second nod as ACCAC Division II Player of the Week after she helped the Aztecs go 3-0 for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 4.
Nelson, a sophomore guard, helped the Aztecs earn wins over Cochise College (twice) and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. She averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 4.0 steals. Nelson shot 58.6 percent (17 for 29) from the field and 42.9 percent (3 for 7) from beyond the arc.
She has played and started in all 16 games and is averaging 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
Nelson was named NJCAA and ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 7-13.
The Aztecs fell to Mesa Community College 71-60 on Wednesday and will be back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday against Scottsdale Community College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
