Mendoza has another double-double, Feagles drains five 3-pointers as Men’s Basketball downs Chandler-Gilbert CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (15-0, 5-0 in ACCAC) won its 15th straight game on Saturday as it opened 2026 against Chandler-Gilbert Community College (8-7, 0-4) at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs used a couple of 12-0 runs to take down the Coyotes 81-56.

Leading 12-8, the Aztecs got a couple of three-pointers from freshman Will Feagles (Notre Dame Prep), which led to a 12-0 run to make it 24-8. The Aztecs took their biggest lead of the half at 40-17 after freshman Isaiah Hill (Premier Prep Academy) hit a pair of free throws.

The Coyotes put together a 15-2 run in almost six minutes between the first and second half to close the gap to 42-32. They got the differential to seven points on two occasions in the second half.

Pima led 55-48 with 9:56 remaining and got huge buckets from sophomores Brock Mendoza and Mason Hunt (Bradshaw Mountain HS) as well as a three-pointer by freshman Rowan McKenzie (Boulder Creek HS) to get the score back to double digits at 62-48.

The Coyotes scored their final points of the game off of two free throws and went scoreless for the final 4:51. The Aztecs finished the game on a 12-0 run.

Mendoza posted his fourth straight double-double as he finished with a game-high 17 points and 16 rebounds. He was 7 for 10 from the field and also had three blocks.

Feagles scored 15 points as he went 5 for 6 from beyond the arc.

Hill closed out the game with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists while Hunt also posted 14 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Isaac Johnson added nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The Aztecs shot 50 percent from the field (30-60) and outrebounded the Coyotes 42-28.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they go up against Mesa Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
