(Guasave, Sinaloa) With a 9-4 victory over the Algodoneros de Guasave, the Tucson Baseball Team bids farewell to the 2025-2026 ARCO Mexican Pacific League season.
It was Paquin Estrada’s grandson who opened the scoring in the second inning, hitting his second home run of the season and driving in Missael Rivera to put Tucson up 2-0.
In the third inning, Marco Chicuate got tangled up with the ball and also hit a solo home run, his fourth of the season, making the score 3-0.
Guasave shook off Tucson’s dominance and managed a 3-run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning, tying the game at 3-3. Victor Labrada homered with Drew Avans and Carlos Arellano on base.
Tucson regained the lead in the fifth inning, with Marco Chicuate scoring from third on a groundout by Alejandro Quezada.
The game was tied in the bottom of the same inning when Carlos Arellano drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Jose Lizarraga scored on a sacrifice fly from third to make it 5-5.
Two Tucson runs in the top of the sixth inning gave Arizona the lead again. This time, River Town tripled, driving in Edgar Lugo, and then Town himself scored on a double by Agustín Ruiz, who had to leave the game with a leg injury, making the score 6-4.
In the top of the eighth inning, Tucson rallied again and extended their lead to 8-4 when River Town scored on a double by Jesús Fabela, and Fabela himself scored on a single by Missael Rivera to right field. Arizona added another run in the ninth inning when Marcos Valenzuela singled, and on a throwing error by shortstop Carlos Arellano, Alejandro Quezada scored Tucson’s ninth run.
Oscar Soria came in in the ninth to record the final three outs of the game, retiring four batters for the 27th out. The win went to André Sánchez, and the loss to Mario García.
