(Mexicali, Baja California) The Tucson Team secured a 7-6 victory over the
Aguilas de Mexicali, continuing their climb in the ARCO Mexican Pacific League standings.
Edwin Valle earned the win in relief, while Garret Alexander recorded his third save of the
season. Lozano took the loss.
Aguilas de Mexicali opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a run thanks to
Cade Gotta’s first home run of the season, putting the home team up 1-0.
Tucson took the lead in the top of the second inning with two runs. Bobby Bradley hit a four-
bagger, and Alejandro Quezada’s single drove in Samar Leyva with the second run for Willie
Romero’s team. Two more runs for Tucson in the top of the third inning extended the visitors’
lead to 4-1. Agustín Ruíz hit a home run, driving in Samar Leyva.
Mexicali got one run back in the fourth on a single by Alejandro Flores, but Tucson responded
quickly to start the fifth with three runs. With the bases loaded, Missael Rivera drew a walk,
allowing Bobby Bradley to score. Alejandro Quezada was then hit by a pitch with the bases
loaded, scoring Samar Leyva. Tucson’s seventh run came on a fielder’s choice when River
Town hit a batter, scoring Marco Chicuate.
Mexicali narrowed the gap again, scoring one run in the bottom of the fifth on a single by
Yadir Drake.
In the seventh, Mexicali added another run, making it 7-4, on a single by Irving López to left
field, scoring Cuban Estevan Florial.
In the eighth inning, Charlie Hasty’s pitching got into trouble, and after loading the bases, he
gave up a sacrifice fly to Yadir Drake, allowing Ren Tachioka to score Mexicali’s fifth run.
Mexicali then added another run against Garret Alexander, making the score 7-6 in favor of
the Tucson Baseball Team, who ultimately won the series on the border.
