Alejandro Mina nets two goals, Mancilla has two assists as Men’s Soccer topples Paradise Valley CC

(Paradise Valley, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (13-2, 10-2 in ACCAC) got back in the win column on Saturday as it played an ACCAC conference game at Paradise Valley Community College (3-8-3, 2-7-2).

The No. 4 ranked Aztecs earned their seventh shutout win of the season after defeating the Pumas 4-0. Pima won their first meeting 3-0 back on Sept. 20 at the West Campus Aztec Field.

Sophomore Alejandro Mina scored the first two goals for the Aztecs. He found the back of the net in the 41stminute with an assist from sophomore Eythan Mancilla (Sunnyside HS). Mina set the tone in the second half making it 2-0 with a goal in the 48th minute. Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic HS) provided the assist.

Mancilla had his second assist of the game when he connected with Joost Hermeling for the goal in the 62ndminute.

Freshman Diegoctavio Garcia Yanez (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored the final insurance goal in the 86th minute as freshman Sean Ribadeneira (Pinnacle HS) had the assist.

The Aztecs had eight shots on goal while the Pumas had zero. Freshman Tommaso Leonardi played the first half and had no saves. Sophomore Alex Cristerna Oleta (Tucson Magnet HS) played the second half and also had no saves.

The Aztecs will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday against Scottsdale Community College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
