(Tempe, AZ) Sun Devil Hockey announced three new additions to its leadership group alongside previously named co-captains Bennett Schimek and Kyle Smolen.
The three alternate captains are returning forwards junior Anthony Dowd and senior Cruz Lucius, with transfer junior Sean McGurn.
In the 2024-25 season as a sophomore, Dowd played every possible game for the Sun Devils, leading the team in plus/minus with +13. In his freshman season, Dowd tied for sixth all-time in assists by a freshman with 10.
Lucius appeared in 19 games last season, tallying two goals and 11 assists, despite being injured during the first half. Before Arizona State, Lucius played at Wisconsin for two seasons, and in his freshman season, he was a nominee for the Hobey Baker award.
McGurn, a forward, tallied 36 points in 30 games with the Reds (USports). Previous to his time with New Brunswick, McGurn wore the captain’s patch for the London Knights of the OHL. In his second year as a Knight, McGurn scored 83 points in 67 games.
