Morgan Pepe becomes 2-time NJCAA Outdoor All-American, 4×800 relay PR’s to take Seventh Place in Day One of NJCAA Outdoor National Championships

(Hutchinson, KS)  The Pima Community College women’s track & field team opened competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships on Thursday at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs earned six points on the day and sit in 14th place out of 21 teams.

Sophomore Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) became a two-time NJCAA Outdoor All-American and three-time All-American overall as she took fifth place in the Pole Vault with a feat of 3.51 meters (11-feet, 6.25-inches) on her first attempt. She earned four team points.

The 4×800 relay team of sophomore Linda Rivero (Desert View HS), freshman Ella Allred (Benson HS), sophomore Alyssa Perez (Agua Fria HS) and sophomore Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned a personal-record after taking seventh place and earning All-American status with a time of 9:32.63. They gained two team points for the Aztecs.

Other Pima finishes in day one of the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships:

Morgan Mosley (Shadow Ridge HS) – 12th place in Hammer Throw 44.80 meters (147-0).

Layla Konski (Ironwood Ridge HS) – 12th place in Long Jump 5.38 meters (17-7.75)

The Aztecs are right back at it on Friday for the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships. Competition begins at 9:00 p.m. (CT); 7:00 a.m. Tucson time.
