(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams closed out their regular season meet schedule on Friday as they hosted the Pima Outdoor Invitational at the West Campus Aztec Track.
The No. 7 ranked Women’s Track & Field team closed out the regular season with 14 national qualifying times and marks.
Sophomore Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) almost broke her own Pima school record in the Pole Vault as she finished with a season-best mark of 3.81 meters (12-feet, 6-inches). She set the Pole Vault Outdoor school record last season at 3.82 meters (12-6.25).
Sophomore April Necaise set an NJCAA national qualifying mark in the High Jump as tied for first place with a season-high jump of 1.63 meters (5-feet, 4.25-inches).
The No. 7 ranked Aztecs Men’s Track & Field team closed out the regular season schedule with 16 national qualifying times/marks.
Sophomore Benjamin Morgan (Sabino HS) tied for first place in the Hammer Throw and set a national qualifying mark with a career-high of 50.00 meters (164-feet, 0-inches). His previous best was 48.83 meters (160-2).
Sophomore Nasir Tucker earned first place in the Long Jump as he set a national qualifier, finishing with a career-best jump of 7.61 meters (24-feet, 11.75-inches). His previous best was 7.59 meters (24-11).
Sophomore Carter Huntsman improved on his national qualifier in the Pole Vault but also set a new career-best with a vault of 4.74 meters (15-feet, 6.50-inches). His previous best was 4.72 meters (15-5.75).
The Aztecs begin playoff competition on Monday and Tuesday in the Region I Multi Championships held at Mesa Community College.
